A board-certified pain management physician and anesthesiologist at the Pennsylvania Spine and Headache Center in Philadelphia, Dr. Levin has been practicing medicine for more than 30 years. He attended Howard University for his undergraduate studies, receiving the Alaine Locke Award of Phi Beta Kappa, The American Chemical Rubber Company Award and received the highest GPA of his class while there. He received his MD from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, completed his internship in internal medicine at Stamford Hospital in Connecticut and went on to his Anesthesiology residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/BMHC/Montefiore Hospitals. Following this he did a double fellowship in obstetrical anesthesiology and trauma anesthesiology at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Center in Miami, Fla., and later completed a fellowship in pain management at New York University. Specializing in advanced pain management modality, he has extensive experience and expertise in the treatment of failed spinal surgery syndromes, crush injuries, frozen shoulder disorders, neuropathies, sympathetic mediated pain syndromes, facial pain, cluster and migraine headaches as well as other complicated pain disorders.
The Pennsylvania Spine and Headache Center has locations throughout Pennsylvania, including Towanda, Shamokin Dam, Philadelphia, and Exton. While most procedures are done at these locations, Dr. Levin is affiliated with a number of hospitals, including Suburban General Hospital, Sunbury Community Hospital, Towanda Guthrie Memorial Hospital, Evangelical Community Hospital, and Brandywine Hospital, Dr. Levin stays current as an active member the North American Spine Society and the Pennsylvania Medical Society.
Dr. Levin has developed novel methods of treating migraine and cluster headaches as well as facial pain, and has pioneered Neurostimulation and pharmacol therapeutic options which are exceptionally effective. He was one of the first to promulgate directed intranasal drug delivery technologies which hold the promise of increasing medication efficacy while decreasing associated side effects. He has also developed interventional techniques and other therapies proving quite useful in the treatment of post spinal surgery syndromes, Neuropathic pain, CRPS, as well as other pathologies. He is also among the first to develop RFID technologies to improve pharmaceutical and medical product logistics and safety. Dr. Levin is currently popularizing the use of these technologies to help combat the devastating consequences of the opioid epidemic.
Dr. Levin is licensed in Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, and Michigan. He previously taught as an assistant professor of anesthesiology at the Temple University School of Medicine and the Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine.
